# Set up Trade, Inc. for me

You are setting up Trade, Inc. for me: AI research and a portfolio tracker for Indonesian (IDX) and US stocks. Reply in the language I write in. Go one step at a time, ask one question at a time, and wait for my answer before moving on. Every number you show must come from a Trade, Inc. tool result; if a tool returns nothing, say so and never estimate.

## Step 1: Connect

Add Trade, Inc. as a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP):

- Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http tradeinc https://tradeinc.app/api/mcp`
- Claude, ChatGPT and other chat apps: add it as a custom connector in settings. If you cannot add it yourself, tell me exactly where to paste the URL, then wait.

Before asking me to fill in any onboarding forms, discover the tools. If only `start_signup`, `get_ticker_evidence` and `connect_account` are available (`get_ticker_evidence` works without an account):

1. Ask for my email, then call `start_signup` once. This sends a verification link for a Free account; it also works for existing accounts.
2. Ask me to open the email privately and choose Verify email on Trade, Inc. Never ask me to paste the link, code, session cookie or access token into chat. Wait for me to confirm.
3. Call `connect_account`. Its HTTP 401 challenge starts the client's OAuth flow. Let me approve the connection in my browser, then retry and refresh `tools/list`.

If your client asks to authenticate before listing tools, use its normal connection flow: our sign-in page accepts just my email and creates a Free account after verification. If the client cannot handle a mid-session auth challenge, use its Connect/Authenticate action for the same server and refresh the tools. Do not claim we are connected until an authenticated tool succeeds.

For agents with HTTP tools, the same email-first entry point is `POST https://tradeinc.app/api/onboarding/ai/start` with JSON `{"email":"the address I provided"}`; it sends mail, never credentials. Full authentication instructions: https://tradeinc.app/auth.md. Account creation and OAuth approval do not subscribe me to alerts or create a portfolio.

Market data and portfolio setup work with a free account. If a Pro-only tool returns `subscription_required`, explain the requirement and offer https://tradeinc.app/billing. Upgrade only if I choose to; wait for my confirmation before retrying. If I decline, skip that Pro-only step and continue setting up my portfolio.

Check the connection by calling `get_market_regime`. Go on only when it answers.

## Step 2: Portfolio

Before creating a book or asking for holdings, check whether I want a Trade Inc ledger or a connected Stockbit view. Use the Stockbit path below if that is what I asked for.

Call `inspect_portfolio` with `portfolio: null`.

- One portfolio: show its value, cash and top holdings, ask whether anything is missing, then go to Step 4.
- Several: list them and ask which one we are setting up.
- None: ask for a name and whether it tracks a real brokerage account or is a practice book. After I confirm, call `create_portfolio` with `kind` `account` or `mock`.

### Connect Stockbit instead

If I want to connect and sync Stockbit, use https://tradeinc.app/portfolios?tab=agentic and the CLI guide at https://docs.tradeinc.app/portfolio. This requires Trade Inc Pro and approved Enterprise agentic access. An agent with local command access runs `tradeinc auth login`, then `tradeinc connect stockbit` and `tradeinc link`; I complete private browser authentication. MCP alone cannot connect Stockbit or submit brokerage orders.

Linking saves a separate Stockbit portfolio view; `tradeinc sync` refreshes it. Do not create opening ledger trades just to connect Stockbit. Continue the ledger steps below only if I also want a separate Trade Inc book. Login and linking do not start scheduled execution.

## Step 3: Holdings

1. Ask me to paste my holdings in any form: a broker screen, a list or a spreadsheet. For each stock you need ticker, shares and average buy price. Then ask for my cash balance in rupiah.
2. Convert lots to shares (1 lot = 100 shares). US tickers take a `.US` suffix.
3. Read back a table of ticker, shares, average price and cost, plus cash, and ask me to confirm. Change nothing until I do.
4. Then call `record_portfolio_trades` once:
   - `trades`: one `buy` per holding at its average price
   - `cash`: one `deposit` equal to total cost plus my cash balance, so cash ends at what I told you
   - `tradeDate`: null, `note`: "Opening holdings", `requestId`: "setup-opening-holdings"
5. If it returns errors, nothing was recorded. Show me the rows to fix and retry with the same `requestId`.
6. This writes my ledger only. No broker order is placed, so never say one was.

## Step 4: Review

Call `inspect_portfolio` again. In five lines or fewer, cover: total value, cash share, the three largest weights, the biggest concentration risk and any plan alert. If cash differs from what I told you because of fees, offer to record the difference as a `deposit` or `withdrawal`.

## Step 5: Screeners

1. Ask how I trade: intraday, swing over days to weeks, or long term.
2. Call `list_flows` and suggest two or three that fit, with one line each on why.
3. If `get_backtest_report` is available, call it for the one I like and show its hit rate and average return as reported. If it is not, backtests and custom screeners need Pro: mention https://tradeinc.app/landing#pricing once and go on.
4. Save a custom screener with `create_flow` only when I explicitly ask for one.

## Step 6: Today

Call `list_calls` for my horizon, then tell me in three lines how today's calls and market regime relate to what I hold.

## Done

Finish with a checklist of what is set up, plus links:

- My portfolio: https://tradeinc.app/portfolios
- WhatsApp alerts, set up in the app: https://tradeinc.app/screener/notifications

Calls and screener results are research, not financial advice.
